Can you tell I’m psyched for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie? That’s why I’m willing to report even the least amount of news on the less-cartoony (despite being CGI) tale of the heroes on a half shell.
In this case, that little amount of news is regarding distribution. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie’s distribution will be handled domestically by Warner Brothers and internationally by the Weinstein Company. Considering we’ve had those two companies listed in our preview for a while now, that’s not really newsworthy.
However, the other tidbit Hollywood Reporter is offering today is a release date: the Turtles will be hitting the big screen March 30th, 2007. While this isn’t the type of movie I’ll be camping out at the theater for, having a release date is the next big step. Now if we can just find out who’s providing the voice talent for the flick (and assurance the movie is better than the Weinstein’s last animated flick to hit screens, Doogal) we’ll finally be getting somewhere.
Turtles is being written and directed by Kevin Munroe and is based on the original incarnation of the characters, by creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
