Despite getting hammered by negative reviews and poor word of mouth, Fantastic Four is landing a sequel. And while this news has certainly been brewing around for what feels like eons, it's just recently been confirmed by Fox.
According to Hollywood Reporter, a sequel awaits for the hit comic book movie which grossed over $154 million domestically. Director Tim Story and scribe Mark Frost have signed on for the project. The original foursome Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis are expected to return. Nemesis Julian McMahon ("Nip Tuck") will not be coming back to reprise his role.
The movie will catapult into theaters on July 4th, 2007. Unless of course they bump it back a few days like they did this past year, to avoid collision with War Of The Worlds. It will come out the month after Spiderman 3, which is some pretty steep competition. Even if reviewers keep bashing it, the sequel is likely to keep bringing in the bucks. Lord knows the box office could use a boost.
