This time it’s a behind the scenes look at the film, in which Johnny Depp, Michael Mann, and Christian Bale talk about the real John Dillinger and how his story influenced their take on him. Bale calls Dillinger’s crime-spree the last gasp of the wild west (and not the one with Will Smith). Dillinger was something of a Robin Hood figure, a hero for a downtrodden nation trapped in the midst of the Great Depression. So if the economy gets much worse, it may be a good time to become a famous gangster. Great Depressions are good business for guys in cool hats.
