I still don't get what the point of this whole rotoscoping/cell shaded thing is that they're using in A Scanner Darkly, but the latest trailer is good enough that we'll all have to take a step back and give it a serious chance.

Latest trailer? Yes, there's a new ad out online for A Scanner Darkly, and this one's a lot better. It gives a much better look at not only what the movie is about, but what sort of style Linklater is going for. The trailer seems to be mixing the animated figures in with live action stuff. How much that will happen I don't know, but it's an interesting mix.

The plot has something to do with a near future in which every single thing you do is watched (not only a plausible near future but a probable one), and apparently one man who looks a lot like animated Keanu Reeves has something wrong with his brain… and there are these dudes called Scanners. I think. Ok, the plot still isn't crystal clear from the trailers, but for some reason I'm getting a Dark City vibe off it and that's pretty good.
