The first trailer for Robert Altman's next movie, A Prairie Home Companion has appeared online, no doubt rushed out onto the film's official website to coincide with his receipt of an utterly meaningless, honorary Oscar. Scorsese, this is your future.

I'm not fan of Altman, but I am a big fan of this genre of movies, if they even really have a genre. Prairie Home Companion looks like something in the vein of the underrated comedy Noises Off or maybe even a touch like Radioland Murders. Oh lord, that sounds like almost certain doom for this thing at the box office. But, despite my usual Altman indifference, I've got hope for this one. The trailer only cemented it.
