A Puzzle Of Posters From Alice In Wonderland Debuts The Caterpillar![]()
Tim Burton's retelling of Alice in Wonderland has so far failed to ignite my enthusiasm. Saying the names Tim Burton and Johnny Depp alone gets my juices flowing, so putting them in the same sentence once again should have me exploding with excitement, right? Alas, the first trailer was released and, as much as I wanted to just love it, my heart broke with the sound of a resounding “Meh.” Subsequent trailers haven't done the job of turning me around so I'm starting to fear that I'll be walking into the theater as a negative Nancy.
That being said, for those of you who can't seem to remove yourself from Disney's proverbial teat, we've got just the thing for you. Via their character's numerous Facebook fan pages, Disney is releasing a “puzzle of posters.” The first of three posters dropped today, showcasing the Queens, the Tweedles, and the Cheshire cat standing (or floating) in a familiar mushroomy landscape. But Disney is begging for 7,500 “likes” before they will release the next piece, so if you don't want your Facebook homepage clogged with messages about the next 4,000 people liking the poster, we have the perfect medicine for that as well. Below the image released on Facebook, you'll find a scan from what is presumably the latest D23 magazine which has the full character set, thanks to a loyal fan over at Deviantart. Most “exciting” is the appearance of the as-yet-unseen Caterpillar, voiced by the unquestionably astounding Alan Rickman. Fans of the original will be happy to see him still blasting off his hookah and looking just as creepy as ever. Aside from that there's nothing you haven't seen before, and this frozen image looks more like a fancy painting than actual screenshots. Yuck. There's just something about what I'm seeing for Alice in Wonderland that is rubbing me the wrong way, but this should be enough to quench the thirst of Disneyphiles for at least the next few weeks.
