New Line hasn’t given up on the historical epic, despite the general malaise that’s set over the public whenever they’re mentioned. So they’ve shipped out the first teaser poster for their upcoming white men kill natives film, The New World from director Terrence Malick.

The poster looks like something of a cross between Master & Commander and Pirates of the Caribbean, with none of the drama and excitement of either. Based on the legend of John Smith and Pocahontas, the film will not feature any of the soul shattering songs shoehorned into the Disney animated feature on the same subject. The presence of cute funny sidekicks will be missed.
