Queen of cute Little Miss Sunshine star Abigail Breslin is too late to get a significant role in Harry Potter movie, so she’s settling for a one of the many second tier fantasy movies being rushed into production. Variety says she’s about to make a deal to star in Walden Media’s Nim’s Island.
The movie is about a girl (Breslin) who accompanies her scientist father to a remote island in the South Pacific. En route, he’s lost at sea and she somehow communicates electronically with a person she thinks is a character from a book when it’s actually a shut-in author. I’m not sure where the island fits in. Maybe the boat sinks and she floats on her luggage to it and ends up being sacrificed to a volcano god with Meg Ryan.
Breslin is also in that horrible American Girl movie we’ve been hearing about lately. You remember it, it’s the film based on those horribly expensive dolls for spoiled little rich girls. No, not the dolls that look like sluts, that’s the Bratz movie.
