Abigail Breslin To Star In A Virgin Mary![]()
Role after role, Abigail Breslin continues to prove that she’s not just an adorable face and the product of good direction. We recently posted a trailer for Janie Jones that offers a glimpse of the kind of talent she’s demonstrating in recent years. She’s working hard, growing up and judging from the description of the indie comedy she’s on board to star in, it’s safe to say that Breslin is no longer the little girl we fell in love with in Signs and Little Miss Sunshine. At 15, she hasn’t been a little girl for a while, but her role in A Virgin Mary definitely falls into the teen/young-adult category.
According to Variety, in Virgin Mary, Breslin will star opposite Carter Jenkins, playing at teenager makes a pact with her best guy friend to sleep with each other if they’re both still virgins by the time they turn 18. Written by Beth Schacter, the film is described as a “coming-of-age story in the tradition of Sixteen Candles." The premise isn’t overly original, but that’s actually the most appealing part about it. There have been some great comedies in the last few years, but I can’t think of any recent films that have revisited the awkward teen years and tapped into the comedy the way Sixteen Candles and other similar films did. I’ll be interested to see how Breslin handle’s this role and whether or not this movie lives up to its description. Akeelah and the Bee's Keke Palmer and Spy Kids' Daryl Sabara will co-star in the film. |
