Actor Peter Graves, 83, Is Dead![]()
Actor Peter Graves, best known for his roles in the television show Mission: Impossible and his role as Captain Oveur in the cult comedy Airplane!, was found dead at his home in the Pacific Palisades today. Graves, who was 83, died of natural causes according to on-site sources. In recent years, the actor appeared in a wide variety of television shows, including House, American Dad, and Cold Case, and had a recurring role on 7th Heaven.
On a personal level, nothing tops his work as the perverse pilot in the ZAZ classic. In a movie filled to the brim with hilarious one-liners, it is his interaction with little Joey, a small boy who had never been in a plane before, that truly makes me burst into fits of hysteria every time I watch it. Be it asking him if he ever spent time in a Turkish prison, liked gladiator movies or if he had ever seen a grown man naked, the scene is perfectly obscene and will always put a smile on my face. Please relive one of the greatest moments in Graves' career below and my deepest condolences to his wife and children. Rest in peace. |
