Adam McKay Considering Adaptation Of Graphic Novel The Boys?![]()
Adam McKay is constantly talking up the potential of an Anchorman 2 and is actually wrapping up work on this summer's The Other Guys, but apparently he's got a comic book in the rotation of projects he's got his eye on. Film School Rejects heard from A Nightmare on Elm Street director Samuel Bayer that, while he'd love to tackle an adaptation of Garth Ennis' comic series The Boys, McKay already has his hands on it.
"From what I’ve heard from the producers on the movie is that Adam McKay is doing it. He did Anchorman, I guess. The studio is really hot on him," Bayer explained, while holding out a little hope for his own prospects: "Let's have the movie [A Nightmare on Elm Street] come out this weekend and do really well. Then we'll see how my stock is in Hollywood." Quite honestly, The Boys seems like the last thing McKay would put on his plate-- the story follows a CIA squad populated with superheroes, whose job is to monitor other superheroes on behalf of the government. Is it possible he's just on board as a producer, and Bayer has his wires crossed? Or is McKay just trying to seriously branch out? We'll keep an eye on the next news to come out of this potentially very, very strange story. |
