Sick of documentaries calling you fat and whining about politics? Then keep an eye out for Air Guitar Nation. It was a big hit at the Tribeca Film Festival this year, and now Variety says it's being picked up by a DVD Distributor called Docurama for a theatrical run in movie theaters.
Docurama will get help in releasing it from Shadow Distribution, and once they're done with it VH1 will get first crack at showing it on television, probably some time in 2008.
The movie's title really says it all. The film follows air guitarists around the nation as they prepare to compete in the massive, annual Air Guitar World Championships in Finland. Air guitar is of course, what you do when you can't actually play guitar and just want to pretend. Performers stand on stage without an instrument of any kind, and strum oxygen.
