Akira Movie Not Quite Dead?![]()
Hollywood has been fumbling around with turning the popular, cyber-punk anime film Akira into a live action movie for years now. More recently Leonardo DiCaprio was rumored to be involved in getting an Akira movie done. But as of this June word was that Akira is “dead as a doornail.” Not so fast!
Collider says those rumors of Akira’s demise may have been premature. There’s still life in this anime goes Hollywood story. They claim to have sources close to screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, probably best known as the writers behind Children of Men. Word is they’ve been quietly working on an Akira script and now they’ve finished and are about to turn the thing in. The question is, once they turn it in, is anyone still interested? Collider insists that they are and what’s more, it’s still a priority for Warner Bros. |
