Because there hasn’t been enough talk about super-hero movies this week, speculation over the sequel to 2005’s Fantastic Four has bee on the increase. Early reports have suggested Galactus may be involved, which includes the possibility of the Silver Surfer. That possibility increases since there has also been talk about a Surfer solo movie.
Well, put that speculation to an end. Jessica Alba has been talking with the press and USA Today has published the results. According to Alba: "We start 'Fantastic Four 2' in August. The four of us learn that there are other people out there with superpowers, and the Silver Surfer appears as a villain/hero. And another villain comes in as well.” I would assume that other villain would be Galactus, although that may be too large an assumption.
Alba added in one tidbit that unnerves me a little: "My character, Susan Storm, has another love triangle and may use a power people haven't seen before. She's the most powerful of the four." The love triangle comment could hint at the use of Namor: the Sub-Mariner as a hero/villain. The character once fell in love with Sue Storm in the comics, asking her to become his bride. However the new power idea worries me a bit. Why mess with decades of comic books to give the character a new power? I’m hoping this is another case of Alba not quite knowing what she’s talking about. After all, she is the one who said she wouldn’t be involved with a sequel in the first place.
