Alexandre Aja Makes Halliburton: The Movie![]()
Alexandre Aja is jumping from one tried-and-true genre from another. The director of horror efforts like The Hills Have Eyes and the upcoming Piranha 3-D is turning next to the war movie, with plans to direct The Contractor for the French producer Gaumont.
The film, according to Variety, takes place in a world where private contractors fight wars on behalf of the United States. Presumably the main characters will be one of the bands of elite soldiers sent on missions around the world. Ian Jeffers is rewriting the script, having previously worked on the spooky-sounding Castlevania for Rogue Pictures. There are plenty of possible political undertones to a war movie right now, especially one examining the relationship between private industry and the government. But something tells me Aja will stick to tried and true thrills, which for a nation moving on from the Bush years, may be exactly what we want after all. |
