Alison Brie To Play Emily Blunt's Sister In Five-Year Engagement![]()
Alison Brie must have a thing for Michigan. She spent last summer there shooting Scream 4, playing the bubbly personal assistant to Neve Campbell's Sidney, and now Variety she's joining the cast of Five-Year Engagement, which according to director Nicholas Stoller's Twitter feed, just started pre-production shooting in the Wolverine State.
Of course, given that the title is truth in advertising-- Jason Segel and Emily Blunt play a couple who are engaged for five years-- it's entirely possible that the film will have many locations, and Brie won't be returning to Michigan at all. What we do know is that she'll be playing Blunt's sister, meaning the actress known as Annie on Community and Trudy on Mad Men will be putting on a British accent for the first time on film. She explained in the Variety article, "I've worked on accents when I was studying at Cal Arts and in Scotland and enjoy that kind of transformation." Developing both comedic and dramatic chops in her television work, it makes sense that Brie is moving on to a substantial movie career, and working with Stoller-- who previously directed Forgetting Sarah Marshall-- is a pretty good credit to add to the resume. If she gets to be even a fraction as funny as she is on Community we'll have a lot to look forward to. |
