It's probably time to set aside those rumors about the Slumdog Millionaire kids suffering because of the movie, both because the Oscars are almost over and no one cares anymore, and because the rumors never really seemed to be true to begin with. Also, all nine Jamals and Latikas-- including the kids cast in the movie right from the slums-- will be attending the Oscars.

The Associated Press is reporting that Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail (little Jamal) and Rubina Ali (little Latika) are both on their way to Los Angeles as we speak, along with Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor and the more familiar members of the cast. Rubina Ali told the AP "I'm very happy that I'm going to the Oscars. My friends are saying, 'your fate is so good.'"

Along with the fact that this is just a plain good PR move on the part of Fox Searchlight, the kids are bound to be the cutest part of the red carpet, especially now that Mickey Rourke's dog Loki is no longer with us. Say what you will about child actors and the lives these kids will go back to on Monday, but little Jamal in a tuxedo is going to be spectacular.
