Alvin And The Chipmunks Intimidate Disney![]()
Disney picked the prestigious date of Christmas Day forever ago as the opening day for The Princess and the Frog, what it hopes to be the studio's triumphant return to hand-drawn 2D animation. But when the princess found itself in a face-off against another family-friendly film that wanted the same release date, the Mouse House backed down. And that, children, is the story of how Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel has already bested a movie that actually looks good.
Princess will now be released on Dec. 11, a date that Variety notes is much better-- the only direct competition comes from Peter Jackson's dark family drama The Lovely Bones. So while now the Disney movie is forced to come out before the kids are officially on Christmas vacation, it won't face the indignity of being beaten at the box office by some CGI rapping chipmunks. That'd be enough shame to wake ol' Walt from his cryogenic sleep. |
