Amanda Crew, your ship has come in. She was part of the excellent ensemble of the surprisingly good raunch comedy Sex Drive, but even though that movie didn't take off, it's led her to something even bigger. Crew will star opposite Zac Efron in Charlie St. Cloud, Universal's adaptation of Ben Sherwood's novel about a cemetery caretaker who communicates with the dead.

According to THR, Efron will play the young man, who has weekly conversations with his dead younger brother and also meets up with a young woman (Crew), who is either missing after a sailing accident or, alas, also a ghost.

I'm a staunch supporter Efron in all things, and I like the idea of this drama so long as it goes in some weird directions, not Five People You Meet In Heaven sentimental crap. I know Crew is more than possible of taking material and making it better than it deserves to be, so maybe she and Efron can team up to make this worth watching.
