Amy Adams probably deserves better than to be stuck playing the obligatory girlfriend in a testosterone filled boxing movie, but I plan to enjoy her in The Fighter anyway. THR says she’s been cast in the film as a tough as nails bartender and former college high-jumper who dates Mark Wahlberg’s boxer character.

Directed by David O. Russell, The Fighter stars Wahlberg as "Irish" Mickey Ward and Christian Bale as his brother and trainer Dick Eklund. It follows as they fight their way through drugs and the rough streets of London and onto success in the ring. Also on board is Melissa Leo as Mickey’s mother.
