Back when casting for The Muppets was still going on, I remarked that if had I been offered a part in a Muppet movie, I would not only be okay with not being paid, but that I would give the studio money for the opportunity. Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzy Bear and the rest are some of the most loveable characters of all time, and I have to imagine that it would be impossible for any actor to say no to them. Apparently Amy Adams agrees.

During an on-set interview with Pop Sugar, the actress revealed that she was offered the part in the movie not only by writer/co-star Jason Segel, but Kermit as well. According to Adams, Segel sent her a DVD that featured both the actor and Kermit the Frog asking her to be in The Muppets. "It was really cool," said Adams. "Once Kermit asks you to do something it is really hard to look at him and say, 'No.' So I was hooked!"

I think that this is a strategy that all studios should start implementing. Is your director dead set on having a certain actor or actress appear in their film? Give Disney a call, rent out one of the Muppets, have them make a formal request on tape, and send it the actor or actresses' way. Is it kind of a cheap ploy and a touch exploitative? Sure, but at least people will start seeing a lot more of the Muppets.
