Covering this year's Tribeca Film Festival, my reactions ranged from admiring incredible story telling (Please Give, Legacy) to absolutely hating movies that truly shouldn't be seen by anyone (Ticked-Off Trannies With Knives). One film that took me by surprise was first time writer-director Andrew Paquin's Open House, a movie that from the outside appears to be a simple home invasion horror story, but takes a unique perspective that separates it from the bunch. Many films from the festival will likely never see a wide American release, but, thanks to Grindstone Entertainment, Open House won't be one of those films.

THR reports that the company, a division of Lionsgate, has picked up the film for distribution in North America. The film stars Rachel Blanchard as a woman whose home is taken over by a sadistic couple, played by Brian Geraghty and Tricia Helfer. Rather than telling the story of the captive, however, the story is largely from Geraghty's point of view, a character who is able to kill innocent people without blinking but is also trapped under the thumb of his malicious partner.

Come time for release, the promotion may focus on the film's two most notable names (True Blood's Anna Paquin - Andrew's sister - and Stephen Moyer), but don't be confused: this is Brian Geraghty's movie. His performance as the stoic David is both intense and captivating, and after his performance in The Hurt Locker was overshadowed by both Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie, this film should get him the attention he deserves.
