As buzz grows around the new Andy Samberg and Rashida Jones dramedy Celeste And Jesse Forever, the film has cast three of its main supporting characters. Rising star Emma Roberts has officially boarded alongside Ari Graynor and Chris Messina. You're likely familiar with Roberts' work, seeing as how she just played the lead in Scream 4 and is the most famous actress in the world's niece, but the other two aren't exactly slouches. Graynor was recently seen in Whip It and Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist, and Chris Messina was absolutely wonderful as Melanie Lynskey's husband in Away We Go.

Celeste And Jesse Forever picks up just as Andy Samberg and Rashida Jones' title characters are divorcing. Lacking alternate living options and wanting to stay best friends, the pair living together, hanging out and spending time with their mutual buddies while casually dating on the side. Celeste works as a consultant for Emma Roberts' character, once a movie star who's mired in a slump. Jesse works as an analyst alongside Messina's character, and Graynor is their mutual friend, though clearly a little closer with Celeste.

Let's be honest. This film could go one of two ways. It could be The Break-Up 2 or it could a thoughtful commentary on the pratfalls of losing not only your spouse but your best friend. I'd like to have confidence in Samberg and Jones, but we really won't know until we see footage from Lee Toland Krieger's film. According to Variety, Celeste And Jesse Forever should begin principal photography shortly. With a smaller budget and a script co-authored by Rashida Jones, the film will have the breathing room to go in whatever direction it chooses. Let's hope it takes the right route to get there.
