I love news stories like this – a lot of words that mean very little.

A while ago we reported that it looked like Angelina Jolie might be joining the ever expanding cast of Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City sequel. Now the news is – she’s closer to joining the ever expanding cast of Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City.

Sci-Fi Wire reports Jolie has just about finished signing on to play a part in A Dame to Kill For, a segment in Sin City 2. Jolie would play the titular Dame, although that would require putting filming on the movie on hold for a while until Jolie finishes having Brad Pitt’s baby.

Right now Sin City 2 is tentatively slated for a 2006 release, but if Rodriguez plans on getting Jolie that would most likely get pushed back. The buzz is that holding for Jolie would be worth it though, truly being a dame to kill for, and hey, maybe that would give Rodriguez time to consider another actress for Nancy, currently played by Jessica Alba. Heck, if Pitt’s baby takes long enough to get here, maybe Rodriguez could start working on a Lucasesque “Special Edition” of Sin City with that new actress, removing Alba completely.

Ah, it’s nice to dream.
