Angelina Jolie Casts Bosnian Lead Actress For Her Wartime Love Story![]()
It still seems slightly unreal, but yes, Angelina Jolie really is going to be making her directorial debut with a love story set during the Bosnian War. It makes sense given how much of her life she's dedicated to doing good works around the globe, but it still feels a little surprising for the biggest star in the world to occasionally show so little interest in Hollywood itself. Anyway, THR has the news that Jolie has cast her lead actress, Zana Marjanovic, a 27-year-old Bosnian whose most well-known role was in Aida Begic's Snow, which won a handful of festival prizes including the Critics Week award at Cannes.
Marjanovic told the AP that the script is "fabulous" and expressed excitement to work with Jolie, a "great actress and humanist." Filming will take place in Hungary and Bosnia later this year, which about when you can expect an obscene amount of paparazzi photos of Angelia peering into a camera lens or pointing off into the middle distance while an actor looks on knowingly. Because, while set photos of actors when they're actually acting can be interesting, shots of directors pretty much boil down to the same thing. Sorry, paparazzi, you lose this round. |
