Angelina Jolie In Ridley Scott's Gucci
Breaking news: Ridley Scott is turning into Steven Soderbergh.
While early in his career the Blade Runner director put out a film every three years or so, Scott has put out a feature every year since 2005 and currently has quite a bit on his plate, including the crime drama The Kind One, his Alien reboot and the Monopoly movie (still don't know why he is doing that one). While most of those films are still in the talking-rather-than-doing stage, one of his upcoming projects is now in motion as Variety is reporting that Angelina Jolie is in talks to join Gucci, a film about the fashion dynasty during the 1970s and 80s.
According to the report, Jolie would play the role of Patrizia Gucci who (Spoiler alert!) was sent to jail for 29 years after it was discovered that she was behind the assassination of her husband, Maurizio Gucci, back in 1995. The article also mentions that Leonardo DiCaprio has been approached about the role of Maurizio, but is currently not attached to the project.
While last year's Body of Lies was given a lackluster reception, Scott can still bring the goods when he has the proper material (Read: American Gangster). While the project is currently going through re-writes, if the film is given the proper noir feel and Jolie is freed to be the best femme fatale she can be, it would be hard to feel anything other than anticipation for this project.
