She’s got the baby thing out of her system (literally) and now Angelina Jolie is handing her newborn over to a nanny and going right back to work. Variety says she’s set to star in a movie about murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Angelina will play the beheaded journalist’s widow Mariane Pearl.

The movie is being adapted from Mariane’s personal memoirs, published under the name “A Mighty Heart”. They’ll recycle that same name for the title of the movie. The book tells the story of her search for her husband after he was abducted in Pakistan back in 2002. Don’t expect a happy ending.

Michael Winterbottom has been brought in to direct the Paramount funded production. Winterbottom’s no stranger to controversy, in fact this year he released the documentary The Road to Guantanamo, an expose of the US prison camps hiding out next to Cuba. Brad Pitt will take on producing duties for his baby mama.

The widow Pearl is reportedly elated to be played by Angelina, as any woman would be.

A Mighty Heart should start shooting some time in the next month.
