Anna Friel's last stab at a big-budget Hollywood movie was Land of the Lost, so she's definitely in need of some better box office cachet. The horse she's hitched her wagon to seems to be Neil Burger's Dark Fields, in which THR reports she'll play the ex-wife of Bradley Cooper's character, a writer who gets his hand on a super drug that makes him smarter.

Ex-wife roles, particularly in action movies, are typically no great shakes-- look at the fate of the beautiful and talented Carice van Houten in Repo Men. But Friel, who has apparently been getting rave reviews on the West End of London lately, still seems to be looking for that blockbuster movie career, and the ex-wife roles are what come before your own Tomb Raider franchise. Hope this one works out better than the Sleestaks did.
