Are We About To See Four Minutes Of Avatar?![]()
We've learned over and over again that we online types are susceptible to hoaxes-- as even the the mainstream media learned recently-- but that's just because we want so badly to believe! That's what brought the folks at Market Saw to get their hopes up over a photo that seems to be of teaser material for Avatar, James Cameron's 3D motion-capture epic that, from most reports, is nowhere close to finished.
The picture-- if it's not a hoax, which it may very well be-- shows film reels labeled Avatar, along with the notices "Teaser A," "3:57 Minutes" and "Dolby Digital." There's also a pile of film reels, without cases, stacked up next to them. There are plenty of questions to ask here-- why is this ready if the first trailer supposedly isn't running until 2009, with Ice Age 3? What's with the bare film? And if the whole thing is supposed to be digital, why film to begin with? So yeah, lots of questions to ask. But as Market Saw points out, Cameron is scheduled to speak at two 3D tech conferences within the next month, so the footage may travel with him. The first conference is in Singapore in just a few days, so we'll find out soon if the footage is in fact there. But we may be just days, not months, away from what might be Cameron's most ambitious movie yet-- and even if it's a hoax, it's a good enough hoax to get excited about. |
