Are You Ready For Superbad Movie?![]()
Yesterday’s April Fool’s Day item about a new spoof movie called Art House Movie: There Will Be Farts would have been depressing if it were true. But, as it often turns out, the truth is even worse. Moviehole has the scoop that the dynamic duo behind Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans are at it again, and this time they’re taking Superbad down with them.
The “spoof,” to use the term loosely, is called Goodie Two Shoes, which seems to almost certainly be a working title or fake title that will be ditched in favor of Teen Movie or Booze Movie or some other lazy title. Moviehole reports that the movie is about “a group of friends who go on a life-changing adventure.” That could describe a spoof of any movie from American Pie to Stand By Me, but given that Superbad was a hit with the same teen boys this movie wants to target, it seems like the most likely victim. Of course, the movie won’t just stick to ribbing Jonah Hill, Michael Cera and company—it’s casting for ”a ‘Jessica Simpson’, a ‘Justin Timberlake’, a ‘Prince’, a ‘Flava Flav’, a ‘Dr Phil’, a ‘Angelina Jolie’, ‘Paris Hilton’, and, of course, a ‘Michael Jackson’.” So, as usual, the movie will use the bare frame of a plot to throw in random pop culture references that stand for humor. Yup, it’s a depressing world indeed. I will absolutely never see this movie, no matter what the new title is, but I’ll complain about it all the louder for ruining one of the few movies I’ve ever enjoyed that made jokes about period blood. Hey, that’s probably the one joke the two movies will have in common! |
