The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor wasn't really the hit this weekend that people were hoping it would be, but it still might not be the end of the adventures for Rick O'Connell and company. Talking to MTV Movies last week, director Rob Cohen had lots of big talk about what a Mummy 4 might look like.
“By taking The Mummy out of Egypt and putting it in China, by exploring a different approach to the quest for immortality, we now have it clear that the Mummy franchise can travel,” Cohen told them. One of his ideas for the next potential movie involves knowing about a BIG SPOILER from the latest Mummy movie, so if you don't want to know, stop reading.
Near the end of the recent movie, Brendan Fraser's character Rick drinks from the pool of immortality, meaning that he himself might be a kind of mummy to deal with in the fourth movie. “Rick is now immortal. I’d love to explore how that plays out for him,” Cohen said. He also mentions a throwaway joke at the end of the movie, in which Evelyn's brother Jonathan walks away from the adventures with a precious artifact; “In my mind, that artifact still has a lot of prizes in it.”
At the end of the movie Jonathan moves to Peru, and Cohen seems pretty certain that that would be the location for a fourth movie. “If we want to go to Mexico or we want to go to Peru, we can because there’s a cultural truth there of the mummies and these beautiful cultures.”
Well, it would definitely be daring for Cohen to set a Mummy movie in the same location that the latest Indiana Jones adventure took place in, but it's hard to say if that's actually a good idea. What do you think? I enjoyed the latest Mummy myself, but even I think it might be better to leave well enough alone.

I say bring back the original director first. This last movie was not very good and almost too goofy. A snowman who kicks fieldgoals? Come on. I loved the first two movies but this just did not cut it for me. The brother did the best in this movie and his sisters replacement didnt cut it for me.
i pretty much agree with BuGG. i did enjoy dragon emperor but it could have been better, and there were a lot of people who were disappointed with it. and i was also thinking that they should bring back stephen sommers for a fourth movie. he could probably bring it back to the popularity it once had. so i think they should make a fourth movie. i think that if they make it scary/creepy like the first one was like that could probably give it a good revamp. i love the mummy franchise and it would be way too sad for it to just fall into the toilet.
I say go ahead. Those of us who loved the first and second movies will continue to like them, and I would hope that we would be realistic in knowing additional films won't be the same. It will still be a good weekend popcorn movie.
well the reason people were dissapointed is probably because it wasnt set in egypt. and i love how the first 2 movies were egyptian setting thats why we love it. i liked mummy 3 i thought the kid growing up would ruin it but it didnt. i thought the yetis would ruin it it didnt i thought the Chinese setting would ruin it it was different but still good.i thought maria bello would ruin it i love rachal wiesz but maria still did good. i love sequels if i could have my way there should be 20 mummy movies but the ground rules are NEVER take fraser out NEVER. but the last mummy they make whether its mummy 4 or mummy 100 it needs to end in egypt with the ORIGINAL mummy.
I love the mummy movies, but the third one did not really work for me, it was just alright, I enjoyed the first two much more.
Also Alex looks like 30 years old and Rick looks like 35. Alex ages but his father did not.
i like the 3 mummy it was set out good, the 1/2 movie's of the mummmy were good, beacuse all the mummy movies are set out in a country and it shows how the people were in those times and how exciting to watch the films as well. The movies tell you a lot about the culture of the place and how it was like, but some of the stuff could be true/ false unless you would want to look up the history of that place and look at the information. I wouldn't mind the mummy 4 in Mexico or PEru, but it will be good to be in Peru beacuse Jonathan, played by John Hannah moves to Peru and in Peru there, are lots of mummies and the culture is very intresting too. if i was the director of this film i'll probably film the mummy 4 in Peru, the pryamids, the mummies and the people at the place/ location of the movie are very outstanding. The director should film the mummy 4 in Peru the cast would like the culture of Peru.
The mummies in Peru are very good, Peruvian's would love that but don't make their country embarrassed with lots of special effects like Indiana Jones 4, that film was to embarrassing to the Mexicans and the Peruvians. If you would want to make a good film, film the actual place not computerized with some little digital thing like Indiana Jones 4. People would mostly prefer to see how the country/ civilization of the place being filmed real, not all fake. You would have lots of people's attention and the audience to go and watch the film. Then lots of people would want to go to Peru or something like that. But I would like the director to film in Peru, especially the Nazca lines, or Machu Pichu for example. The Inca's had a lot history with mummies and all the other civilization in Peru. The north and the south of Peru, example the muches, chimos. Pls film in Peru they have an extraordinary history.
yes, we are ready for 4th part of the mummy 4.
i think directos of the mummy 1st and 2nd part is the best director of the mummy's 4th part . of course brendon fresher and rachel weisz must be there in 4th.
thanks,.
ok i am almost 100% on the same page as eric Says, if it were up to me there would be 100 mummy movies and it should end in egypt but i am one to believe that it just isnt a mummy movie without rachel weisz i liked maria bello but she is A TERRIBLE EVE!!! the mummy 3 was a work of art and a wonder the the cinema world i commend you Rob Cohen
I guess its good point to start the 4th film, as rumors has it it will be set this time in Peru...its a nice idea, because Mummies are not only confined in Egypt..some people hated the idea of Mummy 3 due to the fact that its set in china, along with other so-called reasons like no Rachel Weisz,Imhoteps,etc..those people are dumb...try to Google Mummies, and you'd be suprised to learn that different countries have their own Mummies, even in the Philippines!
Im an avid fan of the franchise, i liked the 3rd film as well...But Maria bello stated that 3 more Mummy films are about to be made...i think creating a 5th film put totally hurt the franchise...why not simply end the whole formula of "raising the dead everywhere i go" on the 4th film itself? Where would Universal put the settings of the 5th and 6th film? in Africa? in Ireland? in Japan?
The first two Mummy movie's were fantastic. What the hell were they on for the third? That was crap. I can understand why Rachael Wiez turned it down, I would of too. There was NO chemistry between Rick and that 2nd Eve. Bring back Rachael, the chemistry between her Eve and Rick was believable. Eve was suppose to be half Egyptian and Rachael looked it. If they make a forth and I hope they will just do a bloody better job a decent script perhaps go back to Egypt when I think Mummies I think Egypt also defendantly Rachael Wiez.
all i have to say is
BRING RACHEL WIEZ BACK!!!
this new actress did not fit the roll at all, so if there is going to be a mummy 4, rachel wiez better be playing eve
I am a huge fan of the Mummy movies. If there are going to be any more, they MUST bring back Rachel Weisz. Maria Bello had zero chemistry with Brendan Fraser (and if you noticed, she had less lines and screen time than Rachel had in the last two). I also think they need to bring back Oded Fehr and Arnold Vosloo. They were all important parts of the movies.

I am with you Mummyfan. I loved the first two. Rachel Weisz made a far better Evie than Maria Bello she is a good actress but no Evie. With Rachel's Evie the chemistry between her and Rick was believable. they could not keep their hands or lips off each other. The third instalment to the Mummy movies was a great disappointment and I only saw bits and pieces of it. Also with the third film they made Rick to be a neglectful father, in the Mummy Returns he was very protective of both Evie and Alex I just could not see Rick doing that. Bring back the original Evie and the original magic to the Mummy films.
