AvP Cancelled?

Cinescape is confirming that the premiere of the heavily marketed Alien Vs. Predator has been cancelled. Originally slated to happen today, it’s been pulled off the table as Director Paul W.S. Anderson works frantically in the editing room to finish up his film. Last minute changes are nothing unusual, but this seems almost excessively last minute. With the film scheduled to debut in theaters in just a little over three days, don’t they need time to make prints and send them out to thousands of different movie theaters? There doesn’t seem to be enough time.

Of course this could all just be a smokescreen excuse to explain the AvP people’s refusal to screen the film for the press, a typical tactic when your movie sucks and you don’t want it reviewed early. But things get even more bizarre when you take into account the rumor that not only will AvP not be ready for it’s premiere, but that in fact it may not even make it’s heavily marketed August 13th release date at all!

Should the movie end up being bumped at the very last minute, it’ll be a huge disaster for the studio which has spent millions in advertising dollars shoving previews and Alien vs Predator merchandise down our collective throats. It’ll also mean I have no reason to have a Predator in the Cinema Blend logo. Quick, someone send me a picture of Julie Andrews!
