How big is Avatar? Tickets to Fox’s Avatar Day, a special day this week on August 21st when Fox will show a 15-minute sneak peek of the movie in IMAX theaters, are being given away today via the film’s official site AvatarMovie.com. Or at least they were until the site was crashed by an overwhelming number of fans seeking tickets.
Bear in mind that this isn’t even the movie, this is just a 15-minute teaser, a tiny taste of what James Cameron has in store for us with his next mega-movie. The interest in this thing is epic, buoyed in part by glowing Comic Con reports and a general, well-earned love of all things James Cameron. He hasn’t done a movie since Titanic back in 1999. Another movie is well overdue.
For those who have been frantically clicking and failing in an attempt to get tickets: don’t worry, they’re working on it. The site will be back soon. There are more tickets to be had, just keep clicking here until they get it back up, and then sign up for your free passes fast. They’re not likely to last.
In case the server’s down while you’re looking, below I’ve put together a mirror listing of all the places Avatar Day is happening. Start clicking! See you there.
