Avatar isn’t being released until Christmas, but the fever pitch excitement drummed up for the film by last week’s footage flaunting has prompted online ticket sellers to start pushing Avatar tickets, well, right now.
Both Fandango and MovieTickets.com have started selling tickets. In fact they went on sale Friday, and according to the folks at Movie Tickets this is the furthest in advance they’ve ever sold tickets for anything. So that’s the good news. Feel free to grab your Avatar tickets right now. The bad news is that if, like me, you’re one of those people who likes to live on the edge and wait till the last minute, there’s a greater than zero chance that tickets will be gone by the time we get around to walking up to a box office. Remember when people used to actually have to wait in line to get tickets? Would Harry Knowles be Harry Knowles without geek throngs to lead in extended (and mostly unnecessary) Phantom Menace waiting? Better times. Damn this newfangled internet technology.
