Every piece of news that comes from Watchmen makes this movie look like pure gold. I don’t even care that much about the planned DVD double dip, I’m so interested in this movie. Zach Snyder has already proven what he can do with 300 and I can’t wait to see how this adaptation will be.
The latest look at the movie comes in the form of an old photograph – a picture of the Minutemen, an old team of superheroes from the 1940s who, despite the span of time, lay the foundation for the events that will take place in Watchmen. Some of the heroes in the movie are newer incarnations of those who came before, while the deaths of some of these heroes are what kick off the real story in the movie.
AICN has gotten their hands on an exclusive picture of the team in their heyday, featuring a very nostalgic “golden age” appearance for the characters. I’ve put a smaller version of the picture below, along with an image of the characters as originally drawn in the comic books. I have to say, it’s a pretty darn faithful live action recreation of the conceived characters.
If you aren’t a Watchmen fan, the characters in the hand drawn piece are Silhouette, Silk Spectre, The Comedian, Hooded Justice, Nite Owl, Moth Man, and Dollar Bill (Catain Metropolis not pictured). In the photograph they appear in the order of Silhoutette, Moth Man, Dollar Bill, Nite Owl, Captain Metropolis, Silk Spectre, Hooded Justice, and The Comedian (kneeling). Compare the beauty of the original artwork and the new picture below, or head over to AICN for a larger version of the photo.
