MOVIE NEWS
B.A. Bond No one quite seems to get what needs to be done if you want to successfully port 80’s TV shows into successful movies. Hiring the guy responsible for some of the worst James Bond movies in history and squandering the screen time of probably the best portrayal of James ever certainly isn’t it.
The A-Team movie that’s been bandied about in rumor is actually happening. We know this because they’ve hired Bruce Feirstein to write it. As alluded to above, Feirstein wrote three of the last four James Bond adventures, which again, may not be something he should brag about. But where 20th Century Fox has really gone wrong is in hiring him not just to port the show over, but to make it a grittier, edgier version of the show, a movie which Fox is already comparing in tone to Die Hard. Well I guess I should be relieved they aren’t doing another TV show parody, but is this really any better? Grittier and edgier? That isn’t the A-Team folks. They may be giving the characters the same names, but gritty and edgy is not what they’re about. No actors are as of yet attached to the project, but it’s certain that none of the original cast will be reprising their roles. This is in part because not all of them in breathing and in part because 20th Century Fox wants someone young and hot. There have been reported talks however between film producers Stephen J. Canell and Spike Selding with Mr. T in which they may be considering him for a cameo. To me that’s even more insulting than leaving him out altogether. ![]() Got questions? . SUBMIT A SCOOP |
