BSG's Ron Moore Making A New Sci Fi Trilogy!

BSG's Ron Moore Making A New Sci Fi Trilogy! Battlestar Galactica may be in the midst of finishing up its final season, but don’t think for a minute that means you’ll be seeing less of franchise creator and show runner Ronald D. Moore. He’s already got a bevy of TV projects on the burner, and now HR says Tom Cruise and United Artists are giving him his own science fiction film trilogy.

No, it won’t be based on Battlestar Galactica. Calm down kids. Instead, we’re talking a completely original sci-fi epic created and written by Ron Moore. Moore has spent almost his entire career writing for franchises created by other people. He got his start writing for Star Trek, and perhaps not so coincidentally Star Trek stopped being good about the time Ron Moore stopped working on it. Aside from a couple of Voyager episodes, Moore’s relationship with Star Trek ended when the television run of the often excellent Trek series Deep Space 9 did.

What I’m getting at here is that science fiction needs more Ronald D. Moore, and thank god someone is making it happen. For those of you who’ve been wondering where the next Star Wars will come from, well here it is. Eat your heart out Joss Whedon.
