In the wake of The Ugly Truth, I'm not really sure I'm ready for that movie's director Robert Luketic to take on the legacy of Barbarella. But he's got the gig, taking over for Robert Rodriguez, and now he's brought a screenwriter onboard, hiring Joe Gazzam to write a new screenplay for the film.

According to THR, the movie won't take a campy attitude toward the material, but will keep all the sexuality and skimpy outfits. There's still no actress chosen for the lead role, though I imagine plenty of women are updating their headshots with pleather.
