Barry Sonnenfeld Picks A Scandal![]()
Remaking a Koeran hit sure worked for Martin Scorsese, when he turned Infernal Affairs into The Departed. So why not let Barry Sonnenfeld give it a try? The director of Men in Black and The Addams Family is looking to tackle the recent Korean hit Scandal Makers, about a womanizing pop star who suddenly discovers he has a daughter and a grandson.
Sonnenfeld told Variety, "I was immediately attracted to Scandal Makers because of its universal themes. It is funny, intelligent and full of heart." True, the story sounds entirely like it could be an American movie, packed with fun musical in-jokes that made Music & Lyrics mildly tolerable (what?? It wasn't that bad!) Sonnenfeld's work as of late hasn't been all that notable-- his last feature film was 2006's RV-- but all it would take is one good story to work with to put Sonnenfeld back on top. This seems like as good a place to start as any. |
