The premise powering The Switch (formerly titled The Baster) is one of those ridiculously awful Hollywood premises that usually results in an equally ridiculous and awful rom-com. But the tone of the movie’s first trailer, in spite of its premise, is kind of perfect. There’s a rhythm to it that reminds me of the good old days when Mike Judge movies were still good. You know, before Extract. Maybe Jason Bateman has landed in something good this time.

It stars Jennifer Aniston as a woman who impregnates herself through artificial insemination. Bateman’s character is not a candidate because he’s kind of a neurotic mess, but somehow the sperm gets switched and Bateman, unbeknownst to everyone involved, is actually the father. Years later Aniston moves back into town with her son, and the similarities between them are hilarious and hard to ignore.
