Bateman Hits The Fast Track![]()
Jason Bateman is about to sell his soul to the devil. In other words, he plans to enter the phoney back-stabbing world of Corporate America.
Production Weekly reports that Bateman has joined the cast of the upcoming comedy Fast Track, starring opposite Zach Braff and Amanda Peet. The project will be financed by the Weinstein Company, after leaving their memories of Miramax in the dust. The quirky comedy is about Tom (Braff) and Sofia (Peet), a married couple that move from New York City to Madison, Wisconsin-- a step in the wrong direction if ever I've seen one. Sofia, once a prominent Manhattan attorney is now a stay-at-home mom; Tom, after being fired from several jobs for shooting off his mouth, finds himself working in an advertising agency alongside Sofia's father. Both start to resent their newfound roles, and when Tom realizes his mentor (Bateman) is trying to sabotage him, he loses what is left of his 'cool'. Newcomers David Guion and Michael Handelman are writing the screenplay, with Jesse Perez making his directorial debut. Principal photography begins on July 11. Bateman, Braff, and Peet starring in a movie together is the best news I've heard since Bateman's hilarious show Arrested Development was picked up for a third season. He will next be seen in The Heartbreak Kid starring opposite SNL's Amy Poehler in 2006. Prepare for a slew of laughs in your imminent future. |
