Batman v Superman Has Revealed Jason Momoa As Aquaman, See Him Here

Over the last year or so, director Zack Snyder has used his personal social media pages to drop images of his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cast. First came Ben Affleck's Batman, next came Henry Cavill's Superman, and then last July there was Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. Today he has introduced the world to Jason Momoa's Aquaman:

It's strange to think how long ago it was that rumors started popping up labeling Jason Momoa as the DC Cinematic Universe's Aquaman. He spent so many months evading questions about it and pretending it wasn't real... but now we're actually seeing him here in full costume. The outfit is definitely an interesting interpretation of the physical look of the character from the comics, and it's interesting that that the tattoos appear to be as much of the visage as the plates of armor he is sporting. And that trident is pure awesome. Overall, it's definitely a big step in the way of redeeming the superhero's mock-worthy public image that's cultivated over the last few years.

It's interesting to note that while the New 52 line of DC Comics has seemingly been very influential in the growing movie world thus far, the look that Jason Momoa is sporting here is quite a bit different how he's been looking in the comics. You can look at a comparison image below:

In addition to the awesome first look at Aquaman, this Tweet from Zack Snyder also has two interesting messages within it. The caption itself, "There is only one true King," is surely a reference to the fact that Aquaman is the king of Atlantis, but the second message is a bit more cryptic. A more logical part of me thinks "Uniting the seven," is a reference to the fact that there are seven seas that exist under Aquaman's rule. But what if it's bigger than that? As a DC Comics fan, I look at the number seven in relation to Aquaman and I'm immediately thinking that he is about to join up with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter to take down some evil (though it will probably wind up being Cyborg instead of MM in the DC Cinematic Universe). I may be taking a leap here, but I wonder if Snyder may be very close to revealing a whole lot more from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

We've known for a little while now that Jason Momoa's Aquaman would be making his big screen debut in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it's still unclear exactly how big his role in the movie will be. Hopefully it won't be too long before we get answers, but if not, it could be a big surprise when the film comes out next year on March 25th.
