When I first heard that a Bratz movie was being made, I dropped to my knees, clasped my hands together, and begged for mercy. Clearly nobody was listening, because Lionsgate has picked up the domestic rights to the film, turning the scary possibility into an even more frightening reality.

In case you’re not familiar with Bratz (in which case, you should consider yourself blessed and promptly click out of this article), they are popular fashion dolls aimed at children, despite looking like cracked-out, scantily-clad whores. Suddenly Barbie doesn’t seem quite as bad, does she?

The Bratz phenomenon has already extended into TV and CDs, so a movie venture was only a matter of time. According to Variety, the live-action film, cleverly titled Bratz: The Movie, will be directed by Sean McNamara (not the clueless surgeon on “Nip/Tuck”) and written by Susan Estelle Jansen.

The plot will follow four teenage girls from different social and financial backgrounds, who join together to reject high school cliques. They name themselves Bratz, with a "z," because they are just that darn rebellious.

Barring a last minute miracle, production is set to begin in February.
