Be Kind Rewind Busts Ghosts![]()
Come on, admit it. When you were a kid, you took the family camcorder and went to work re-creating scenes from your favorite movies. Be it Star Wars, Jurassic Park or even Pete’s Dragon, you wanted to relive those magical cinematic moments. Of course, you may have not as taken it as far as Chris Strompolos, Eric Zala and Jayson Lamb, who took 14 years to produce a shot-for-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Chances are your home-made movies aren’t as funny as Be Kind Rewind promises to be. The film stars Jack Black and Mos Def (is that a Star Wars character?) as two friends who set out to remake all the classic fanboy films of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s after Black accidently erases them all and Def will lose his job as a video clerk because of it. The film is helmed by hit-or-miss director Michel Gondry and as a picture scored by Twitch shows, the cast is hard at work remaking movies. It seems like this is a shot from Ghostbusters, if you ask me. Call it a gimmick or the most original remake ever conceptualized, Be Kind Rewind will cover greats from Back to the Future, Lion King and Robocop, according to the always-reliable IMDB, to Driving Miss Daisy and Rush Hour, according to Twitch. The film is planned to release in the spring of 2008. |
