I’m dying to see Be Kind Rewind, and not for the pretentious film-critcky reason that it’s directed by Michel Gondry. He makes Films, not movies ya know. No, I’m dying to see it because I like watching things that I already know I like, and since the Film is about Jack Black and Mos Def re-enacting every cool movie, well I can’t imagine anything more fun. Plus, they use VHS, which is kind of nostalgic, in the way 8-track tapes used to be. Now 8-tracks are just sad. Ten years from now when we’re finally over DVDs, I’m sure we’ll feel the same way about VHS.
Anyway, my anticipation for Be Kind Rewind is now even more heightened. New Line has just released a new poster for the film, in which Jack Black and Mos Def are riding a flying VHS tape. If only they’d had the good sense to wear capes. Take a look:
