Beau Bridges has had a pretty versatile career. He’s done science fiction (Stargate SG-1); he’s done comedy (My Name is Earl); and that’s just in the last few years. Now Bridges is adding another genre to his resume: video game adaptation.
Bridges has joined the cast of Max Payne, a thriller based on the video game by Rockstar Games that already has Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis among its cast members. Wahlberg plays the title character, a maverick cop who steps outside the system to seek revenge against the killers of his partner and family. Bridges will play B. B. Hensley, who serves as a mentor to Payne, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
I missed out on the Max Payne bandwagon, never having played the game, so I don’t know how well Bridges is suited specifically for the part of B.B. Hensley. Considering the actors versatility, however, it doesn’t seem like a bad casting decision to me. With a cast that’s rounding out pretty nicely, could Max Payne wind up being one of the strongest video game adaptations to date?
