Beauty And The Beast Is Back In Your Face![]()
There was a time recently when Pixar was kicking everyone’s animation ass and somehow other studios felt that it was because they were doing things in CG rather than hand drawn animation. So Disney got rid of their hand drawn animation and started doing everything CG. Of course, they had crappy stories so they made crappy movies while Pixar continues to roll out classic after classic. Now, Disney is turning their “it’s the medium not the message” philosophy to 3-D.
The HR reports that Disney will be re-releasing 1991’s Beauty and the Beast with a 3-D facelift. The process of transforming the boring, dusty, piece o’ crap 2-D movie that we all hated and failed miserably (or maybe it made millions and was nominated for an Academy Award, I forget) will take about 10 months and the new creation is set for release in 2010. The original animation files will go through some mysterious voodoo and literally burst right out of the screen. When Gaston expactorates, it’s going to land right in your lap. Probably. The 3-D’ing of older films continues the plan to release both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3-D in the next two years (another couple of movies that sucked ass, I guess.) Disney is also releasing nine (NINE!) other 3-D films in the next two years. These include everything from a Jonas Brothers concert film to Step Up 3. Maybe in 20 years they will release Step Up 3 in a 2-D version. |
