Ben Affleck Goes 70s Style In First Argo Set Photos

When watching a movie, it's somewhat amazing how much wardrobe can inform the audience about the setting. If you see a character rocking a flannel shirt and jeans torn at the knee, you know the film takes place during the 90s. Meanwhile, a zoot suit and large brim hat will take you back to the 1940s. Seeing Ben Affleck's costume on the set of his newest directorial effort, Argo, it becomes immediately obvious that the film is set in the 1970s.

Those are some serious lapels, but Affleck has nothing on Harrison Ford. As you can see from these shots, the film also stars Alan Arkin, but John Goodman, Bryan Cranston, Michael Parks, Kyle Chandler, Richard Kind and many more also play roles. Based on the incredible true story documented in a 2007 Wired magazine article, the project tells the story of a covert CIA operation to rescue hostages trapped in Iran by staging a fake film production. The movie is currently shooting in Los Angeles, but is expected to also film in Washington DC and Istanbul (standing in for Iran). The film doesn't have an official release date but is expected to come out some time in 2012.
