“Miami Vice” series producer Michael Mann has just signed on to write and direct the big screen adaptation of the 80's hit series for Universal. But that’s not all, one of the role has been cast with the other being seriously courted.

Jamie Foxx is no stranger to Mann, the two worked together on this summer’s hit Collateral as well as Ali back in 2002. Well this time the duo is teaming up yet again. Foxx has signed on to play “Detective Ricardo Tubbs”. It is indicated that both Foxx, Mann, and Universal head honchos are trying desperately to get Colin Farrell to sign on as “Detective “James ‘Sonny’ Crockett”.

No word yet on when Miami Vice will begin filming, or a potential release date for the film.
