Bill Murray Channels FDR In First Look At Hyde Park On Hudson
Abraham Lincoln may have had his beard and top hat, but the look of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt is just as iconic. From the grey hat to the round glasses to the extended cigarette holder, it doesn't take much to make an actor look like the 32nd President of the United States. That, however, doesn't mean that Bill Murray hasn't absolutely nailed the look in Hyde Park on Hudson.
USA Today has posted the first two stills from the new film, one of them perfectly emulating one of the most iconic images of FDR (which I've included for comparison sake). Check out one of the pictures below and head over to the source for the second.
I've spent a good amount of time on this site gushing about how much Michelle Williams resembles Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn, and I feel the same way about this image. Murray looks absolutely perfect as Roosevelt and I am curious to see what he will do with his portrayal. Directed by Roger Michell, Hyde Park on Hudson is based on true events, when the King and Queen of the United Kingdom visited upstate New York in 1939 and Roosevelt was forced to hide his affair with Margaret Stuckley, a distant cousin. The film co-stars Laura Linney, Olivia Williams, Olivia Colmen and Samuel West. The film will be distributed by Focus Features and while it doesn't have a release date yet, it's expected to arrive sometime in 2012. |
